We have listed down the reasons for the most common errors that you face while publishing content to Facebook and start scratching your head as to why the content did not appear, with errors such as:
Two-Factor Authentication
If the business page that you are managing has enabled Two-factor authentication, you need to enable the Two-factor authentication on your account level. After that, reconnect your account and you will not experience this error.
The user must be an administrator, editor, or moderator of the page in order to impersonate it.
Error Validating Access Token
This means that the session has been invalidated because the admin has changed their password or Facebook has changed the session for security reasons. Your session/access token to Facebook has expired. This happens if you have:
Changed your account password
You have not made a post to Facebook in the past 90 days from the Social planner
Abusive/Reported Contents/Link Goes Against Community Standards
Be mindful of what you post online. Your message might get restricted if it includes content that other people on Facebook have reported as abusive or not appropriate. Your content will not be shared, because the link goes against Facebook's Community Standards.
'Manage_Permissions' must be Granted
If you are publishing content to your client's social media pages and they haven't added you as an administrator, you will get this error. Make sure you have administration access to all your relevant social media pages - and while connecting the account, you allow the manage_permissions to the Pages section to allow your posts to publish without any issues.
Missing or Invalid Image
If you have scheduled a social media post, and the link that you are sharing with the image is no longer working, you will see this error for your social post.
An unknown error occurred
If you see this error, then the most likely issue is that your Facebook page access token does not have enough permission to publish content. You may find that sometimes, posts are published, but a few times they fail. If you are facing this issue, you will need to reconnect your pages and ensure you have given all of the relevant permissions while connecting your Facebook Page.
"The URL you supplied is invalid" or "This link could not be posted"
When publishing a post that includes a link, Facebook takes a look at your link and indexes it. When Facebook servers are overloaded they will be unable to index your link during the request time. You may then see one of the above error messages. Facebook will still index the link, so another try a minute or two later should work for you.
Unable to reconnect a page in the Social Planner
To reconnect a page within the social planner tab, please reconnect using the same social media account that originally connected the page to the location.
Alternatively, go to Locations Settings > Integrations > Click on disconnect, then the connect button next to any accounts with "expired" tokens.
You will need to be a page admin in order to complete this action. Once you have finished, head back into the social planner and check to see if the social token is still expired.
For example:
If Emily had connected the Facebook page using her account, and Alex (the Account Admin) want to reconnect the page because the integration has expired, then Alex would need to use Emily's Facebook account in order to reconnect the page, or Alex would need to ask Emily to reconnect the page herself, using her account within the locations settings > integrations > disconnect, then reconnect Social pages.
Click on the Connect button to disconnect, click again to reconnect
