Engaging on X - the platform previously known as Twitter - means to comment on, repost and 'favourite' other people's posts.
It's a great way to show the love to other businesses in your place or sector, and to increase your own visibility by joining conversations.
Here's how it's done:
Finding feeds to engage with
It's really easy to engage from X. The first thing to do when you are in your X account is find feeds to follow. These will be the feeds you want to connect with, maybe from your sector or place.
These feeds are likely to share content that is relevant to your business, and therefore content you are likely to want to engage with. Engaging with this content will start to build relationships with these feeds. Content that is of interest to you is likely to also be of interest to your audience too, so if you share this content you are also sharing posts that your audience may engage with.
To find other feeds you’d like to engage with, you can either search for the feed name itself or you can search for different topics and hashtags and find feeds that post content about these.
Following others
When you find a feed you think is of interest, take a look at their profile and you will see the content that that feed shares. If it looks relevant to you, why not click follow.
Engaging
When you go to home, you will see content from all of the feeds that you choose to follow. If you see a piece of content that you actually want to engage with you can do so in numerous different ways. You can:
Like to post by clicking the heart;
Comment on the post by clicking the speech icon. Your comment will then show on the post, increasing your visibility and reach. You can also include hashtags here to join your post up with other content about the particular topic. Once you are happy with your comment, you just click Reply;
Share the content with your audience, either by just reposting, or reposting with a comment, which might be your view or asking your audience a question about the post. You can also include hashtags here to join your post up with other content about the particular topic and making it more discoverable. Once you are happy with your comment, you just click Post.
