Having a great Google My Business (GMB) listing helps people to find you online. Learn what a great GMB listing looks like, and grab some tips and tricks to improve your own listing.

If you own or manage a hotel, bed and breakfast (B&B), or any accommodation business of any size, optimising your Google My Business (GMB) profile is crucial for attracting potential guests.

Using Google My Business to help your customers find you

  1. Getting started

Make sure you have set up your Google My Business page. If you haven't yet done this, click here for all the info you’ll need to build your GMB listing.

  2. The "Book a Room" button

The most prominent feature on your GMB profile should be the "Book a Room" button. This button allows users to quickly check room availability, view different room types, prices, and dates. Even small businesses, like B&Bs or Airbnbs, can benefit from this feature, providing a seamless booking experience.

Google offers a free booking facility through this button, making it quick and easy for potential guests to book a room without navigating to your website. This handy button should help you to capitalise on immediate booking opportunities.

  3. The "Check Availability" section

Scrolling down your profile, you may notice a "Check Availability" section. While it might seem redundant alongside the "Book a Room" button, this section is controlled by Google and showcases various booking websites. It's common in the travel and tourism industry and adds an extra layer of visibility.

  4. Amenities

Within the "Hotel Details" section, make use of the "Amenities" subsection to provide essential information about your business. Include details such as free Wi-Fi, breakfast options, accessibility features, parking and any additional features. This information helps potential guests make informed decisions directly from your GMB profile.

Note: Tailor the amenities section to your business, even if you're not based within the travel and tourism industry. For physical premises or offices, be sure to include details about accessibility for people with disabilities. The more relevant information you provide, the better your GMB profile serves your audience.

Keeping your GMB listing up to date

Regularly update your GMB profile with reviews and posts is crucial for keeping your business information current and engaging potential customers. Share updates, offers, and relevant information to keep your audience informed. Share any new developments, promotions, or unique offerings to entice potential guests.
