A vanity URL is a custom address for your Facebook business page, such as facebook.com/wearemaybetech/

A Facebook vanity url or Custom Facebook Business Page URL gives your business page a unique url that therefore makes your facebook page searchable. This makes it easier for people to find you and looks professional.

It’s easy to set up. We’ll walk you through how to do it in just a few simple steps.

There are two ways to do this. Which one you need depends on whether you have the ‘New Page Experience’ or the classic Facebook page.

For the classic page, you can set up a vanity url as follows:

Go to your Facebook Business Page, and select the Edit Page Info section. Under General, you will see username. Here you can set your username.

Enter the username of your choice.

If the name is available, a green tick will appear.

A pop-up window will appear showing if your username is available as well as other important information. When you have settled on an available username click on the “Confirm” button.

A confirmation pop-up window will appear showing you what URL you may now direct your Page fans too.

Click “Okay” and start notifying your friends and fans about your new Facebook Page URL! That’s it.

If you have a New Page, the process is this:

On your computer, make sure you are logged in as your page, and click the avatar top right. Then click Settings & privacy and Settings.

You will now see Page Details. Next to Name click on View.

Click into your Username and enter the username you would like for your vanity url. If it’s available, you’ll see a green checkmark and it will say Username is available.

That’s it.

So whatever page type you have, it’s a super simple process.

The username is a part of the URL that follows “https://facebook.com/” eg https://facebook.com/wearemaybetech, so don’t make use of spaces, symbols, or other special characters.

We recommend a short, easy to remember name that is relatable to the business or brand name, so using your business name and the same name or - if not available - similar to your other social media feeds is ideal.
