Ready for your business to dive into LinkedIn? Of course you are. Here’s how to create a LinkedIn page for your business.

Using LinkedIn as a business

There are plenty of reasons to have a company presence on LinkedIn. LinkedIn is an extremely popular platform, with many millions of users. Whether you’re keen to build your network, build your brand, expand your team or carry out research, LinkedIn is a useful platform for businesses of all sizes.

How to set up a LinkedIn company page for your business

  1. First things first, you need to have a personal profile set up.

  2. In your homepage, look at the tabs at the top of the page, and click on ‘Work’ to open a dropdown menu.

  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the menu, and click on ‘Create a Company Page’.

  4. A new screen will appear, called ‘Create a LinkedIn Page’. On this page, choose ‘Company’ from the options shown.

  5. On the next screen, you will be prompted to add details about your business. Type in your business name - LinkedIn will use this to generate a page URL for you; website URL, and add your industry sector. You’ll also need to indicate the size of your company (number of employees), and whether you are private or public sector.

  6. Upload your logo. This is optional at this stage, you can come back to it later.

  7. Add in your tagline. This is a short and snappy summary of your business, in one or two sentences. Just keep it brief so that people will understand what your business is all about at a glance.

  8. Click ‘Verify’, and then ‘Create page’ below. You now have a rudimentary page set up on LinkedIn!

Making your business page discoverable on LinkedIn

  1. It’s time to add some additional details to make sure your page is fully on brand. LinkedIn will take you through a series of prompts to ensure that your page is set up to perform optimally. Click on one to be taken to your ‘Edit’ screen.

  2. In ‘About’, add in your company description. This is an opportunity to provide an overview of your products and/or services. Unlike your tagline, you can go into more detail here, up to a maximum of 2000 characters. So be descriptive but still succinct.

  3. Here you can also add more details about your company, such as the year it started, and any specialist knowledge or skills, too.

  4. In ‘Page info’, upload your logo, if you haven’t done so already. You can also add a cover image.

  5. Work through the Edit screen to add more details. The more you add, the more accurate your page will feel.

  6. Under ‘Featured’, you can add articles you may have written, links to media articles you’ve been featured in, or customer testimonials.

  7. Make sure you keep your profile up to date!
