Here we walk you through how to set up your Facebook Business Manager for your business.

If you want to get started with Facebook advertising, setting up your Business Manager is highly recommended as it enables you to manage your ad account, your pages, and the people who work on them all in one place, and it's free to use.

You might think that because this isn't familiar to you, you don't have a Business Manager already, but you may well find you have - if you've ever boosted a post from the feed in the past, you likely have an ad account already and quite possibly a Business Manager or a Business Suite already in place.

A Business Suite account is not the same as a Business Manager - very similar, but not quite the same - so it can be confusing, but it's possible to switch your Business Suite Account into a Business Manager account. We explain how to do this, as well as how to find out if you already have a Business Manager account for your page if you're not sure.

How to Check if You Have a Business Manager Account

If you're not sure if your page is already in a Business Manager, there's a simple way to find out. Log into Facebook using your usual personal login on your desktop, go to your Facebook business page and look for page settings. Go to the page you want to check, scroll down to settings, and find page roles. What you're looking for is under page owner. If you see a page owner, this means a Business Manager for your page has been created in the past, and you therefore know that your page is within a business manager already. If you are the business owner and you created the Facebook page, then it's most likely your Business Manager.

There's a quick way to access it - go back to home and just look on the left-hand side for where it says either Business Manager or Business Suite. Click into that, and it’ll take you to your business manager. If this doesn't work for you, then look at all the page admins listed under page roles. Ask them to each follow the same process, as one of them will have access to the business manager that owns the page.

How to Switch Your Business Suite Account to a Business Manager Account

If it comes up with a Business Suite account, you can easily switch it to a Business Manager account. Look for More Business Tools in your menu - within the Business Suite menu - then find Business Settings and click on that, which will switch your Business Suite account into a Business Manager account.

How to Set Up Your Business Manager Account for Your Page

If you can't see a page owner when looking at your Facebook business page, you can set up a Business Manager account by following these steps:

  1. Open up an incognito window and open two tabs.

  2. In one tab, log into Facebook.

  3. In the other tab, type in ‘business.facebook.com’ which brings you to the front screen, then click create account. As you have your Facebook page opened in another tab, it should pre-fill this for you, and you can then just click login.

  4. The next screen is where you fill in your business details. Complete this carefully because this is the business associated with your personal login. You'll be asked for your business name, your name, and then an appropriate and associated business email to attach to the account.

  5. This should then take you through to your newly set up Business Manager account. It is suggested you bookmark this URL for easy access in the future.
